"The earth of north country"
On the street of the city covered with snow, the white devil of wind runs
through, as usual roaring loudly. Disturbed by a blizzard blown from the
Ishikari Bay, a man was on his way home that night. It took a long time for
him to grab a taxi. At last one taxi stopped but from the inside of it came
the voice of the driver saying, "Sorry I can't take you there because it's hard
for me to find my way back in this terrible blizzard." The man began to walk
home holding the collar of his coat. Although he tried to go forward, leaning
his body in the blizzard, the strong wind blew him directly and ruthlessly.
Soon he used up his energy and collapsed on the snow as if he had fallen
asleep. What a tragedy! The snow went on falling on his body. Soon his body
disappeared under the snow. Yet his face showed a sign of relief somehow,
so I have heard.
